Celebration of Ronald’s Life will be held at Noon on Friday August 10, 2018 at Pulliam Funeral Home in Oblong, IL. Burial will follow in Oblong Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10:00am until service time on Friday at the funeral home.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of a contribution to the Oblong Sports Boosters or the Crawford County Spay and Neuter Foundation. Ronald K. Bailey Sr., 78, of Madison, AL formerly of Robinson and Oblong, IL passed away on Monday August 6, 2018 at his residence in Madison, AL.
He was born in Oblong, IL on May 24, 1940 to Nolan Bailey and Pauline (Brownfield) Bailey. On October 30, 1959 he married his former wife Barbara (Fox) Bailey.
Ronald had worked for Marathon Oil Co. as a supervisor from 1962-1968, Heath Candy Co. as Controller/Treasurer/Exec. VP from 1968-1983, Heath Candy Co. as President and COO from 1983-1989, Bay-Mor Investments, Inc. as President from 1989-1991 and started his own company due to retirement boredom, Bailey and Associates, Inc. from 1995-1999. He was a member of the Oblong High School Class of 1958, and graduated from Eastern Illinois University in 1962 with a B.S. in Business and minor in Economics. Ronald was very active in his community serving at the First National Bank of Oblong as a board member, Oblong School system as a board member, City of Oblong-Council Member/Treasurer, Oblong Methodist Church Trustee, North Naples United Methodist Church Finance Committee, Imperial Golf Club of Naples Board of Directors and was a member of the Heritage Methodist Church in Madison, AL. Ronald also enjoyed watching Chicago Bears Football, St. Louis Cardinals Baseball, University of Illinois Fighting Illini Football and Basketball, was an avid golfer and enjoyed watching old westerns on TV.
He is survived by his mother Pauline Bailey, Oblong, IL; former wife Barbara Bailey, Madison, AL; one son Ronald Bailey Jr., Apollo Beach, FL; one daughter and son-in-law Jennie and Drew Beck, Madison, AL; grandson Alex Bailey and wife Miranda, Lithia, FL, granddaughter Emily Beck and Fiancé Adam Nielsen, Madison, AL; a sister and brother-in-law Myrna and Jim Smith, AZ. Ron is also survived by several nieces and nephews, an amazing hospice Nurse Tracey and amazing care givers Cathy, Andrea, Dianne, Tamika and others.
Preceding him in death was his father Nolan Bailey.
